Our breeding goals

We love our goats so much that it is important that we strive for the best animals we can breed. We aim first, to breed with a focus on milk production, structurally correct udders, and teat/orifice size. We want our animals to be exceptional milkers, giving their new owners (and ourselves), ease of milking, big production, long and level lactation, as well as delicious tasting milk. We also aim to breed animals that give a gallon a day of milk, without having to push a lot of feed. We realize that most people don’t want to, nor can afford to feed their animals exceptional amounts of feed to get high amounts of milk. For the average homesteader/family, a gallon a day is an excellent amount. We hope to be able to have solid milkers that will give a good amount on minimal feed.

Our second focus is on breed conformation. We take a couple aspects at a time to focus on and perfect before adding in other traits.  Our focus is on the udder and the body conformation first, but we are also breeding for hardy goats. We want animals that are not high maintenance, that deal with parasite loads easily, and that are generally healthy all the time. Who has time to deal with goats that are constantly needing meds/wormers…

Below you will find our breeding plans for the next year.  If you are interested in a kid, send us a note! We will put kids up for sale after weaning which is between 10-12 weeks from kidding. Due to just really beginning and focusing on our breeding program, we prefer to thoroughly assess our kids before making a decision on who to keep/sell, we don’t want anyone to put a deposit in hopes of a specific animal only for us not to be able to provide that animal due to the doe not providing, or that we choose to keep more than we expected. Any kids for sale will be put up after 12 weeks.

Should you choose a kid, a $100 deposit is required to hold the animal.

**We reserve the right to retain any animal we feel is necessary to our breeding program. Breedings are subject to change.

2019/2020 Breeding Plans

Queenacres Keanu Kulani

Due 11/7/19 – Kidded 11/9/19

Single doeling born – Dystocia – doeling deceased on birth.

We’re hoping to bring in a bit better topline on Belle and combine both Belle and Kulani’s beautiful stature, keeping the width that both of them bring.

Queenacres Keanu Kulani

Due 12/11/19 – Kidded 12/11/19

Single doeling born – Retained
Kessel Run Mercy Hallelujah

Mercy is our exciting first freshener. We can’t wait to see how her udder turns out! Looking to combine the Goldthwaite lines with 6MG to bring the milk as well as beautiful confirmation. These two lines tend to mesh well together. Hoping for Kulani to fix Mercy’s topline and rump, and give her more width.

Screaming Goat Farm Eli

Due 11/8/19 – Kidded 11/11/19

Single Buckling born (11.6lbs!!) – SOLD
Kessel Run Obadiah (MDGA)

Calla was supposed to be bred to our newest buckling Ruger, but he wasn’t quite ready. Elias was up for sale but we hadn’t sold him so she was quickly bred to him. Of course Ruger seemed ready to go a month later. Kids from this breeding will be for sale, hoping for milk as Eli’s sister has an exceptional udder!

Due 3/7/2020

F1 Mini-Nubian 75/25%
1st doeling retained

Peach is by far one of our favorite girls! She is as hardy as can be, a gorgeous udder and milk. Kids with ease. Last year she was bred to Kulani and gave us twin boys. Repeating mostly as our mini buckling wasn’t ready but I also really would love a doeling out of this combo. Hoping he fixes her topline, gives a little more roundness to her udder arch and increases production.

ADGA PLANNED PEDIGREE

Corabelle is our newest addition. We’re quite excited about her being a. grandaughter of the infamous Pennyroyal Frida’s Corazon who has had several extended lactations well over 600 days. She was bred to Kulani in hopes of strengthening her legs/feet, and gaining some width. She has absolutely gorgeous breed character as does Kulani, so expecting nothing less from the kids! Looking forward to working with udder from the start this year!

Calypso has a beautiful level topline and length to body, we’re looking forward to seeing how she freshens this year! She is a first freshener.

2020/2021 Breeding Plans

We are continuously updating the 2020 breeding plans probably all the way up through the summer. This list doesn’t include yet any of the doelings we may retain in the upcoming March 2020 kiddings. Keep checking back for updates! We’re also expecting a new buckling in the spring that will be used in some of these breedings.

ADGA PLANNED PEDIGREE

This is the most exciting breeding of our season! A linebreed on 6MG Nova’s Sonia Noel lines! This breeding should bring increased production as well as more consistency. Wise throws gorgeous colorful kids with beautiful breed character. Mercy had a wonderful FF udder that is socked on and has a smooth fore udder. We’d like to bring her teats in a touch and raise the udder a bit and are hoping Wise brings that into the picture! Thank you to Wolfhill Ranch Nubians for letting us use him for this breeding!  We will most likely retain a doeling or two. If interested, please inquire about a waitlist.

F1 mini-Nubian

This is probably my second most exciting breeding this season for the mini side. Corabelle is the granddaughter of Pennyroyal Frida. Our newest buckling is a great-grandson of Pennyroyal Frida Corazon which is Frida’s daughter. Both of these amazing does put out the milk and very long lactations! This will be a line breeding on Frida and within the mini line! Corabelle has a gorgeous and soft udder. My only complaint is I wish she had bigger teats. This bucklings sire is known to put amazing teats on his daughters. All of his daughters are extremely productive and improvements over their dams.

ADGA PLANNED PEDIGREE

This will be a first breeding for Levi. We’re anxious to see his kids! Levi is straight Saada lineage. Looking forward to seeing Calypso’s udder in March 2020 when she freshens! Combining Saada, Kastdemur, Lynnhaven, and Pruittville lines in this outcross. Calypso has a lovely topline and rump height as does Levi. Calypso is a granddaughter of Kastdemur Next Key, a 91 EEE buck who has been putting out beautifully correct kids.

ADGA PLANNED PEDIGREE

Belle is an amazingly wide and stout girl. She’s going on 11 years old and still going strong. We’re breeding her with Levi this year, hoping for some great structured kids with beautiful breed character and the will to milk.

To be bred Sept/Oct 2020

All does retained – Bucks $400

F2 mini-Nubians – 65.75/34.27%

Two of my favorite goats! Calla is easily one of our top favorite does. Gorgeous breed character, easy kidder (she had an 11.6lb bucking last kidding!!), and her udder and teats are a pleasure to milk! Nice large orifices, super soft udder that is well attached, and great production! Calla is on milk test for 2020 and should easily earn her star. Ruger has wonderful confirmation and gorgeous long ears. He has excellent Cornerstone lines on his sire’s side and 6MG lines on his dam’s side. We’re hoping to smooth Calla’s fore udder and bring in more production as well as retaining the gorgeous breed character they both have.

F2 mini-Nubians – 64.06/35.94%

Peaches is easily my other favorite goat! She has a BEAUTIFUL udder, excellent medial, great sized teats and orifices, and very soft. She is the most hardy goat we own! She could use a bit more height at the escutcheon but we have no complaints overall! We’re hoping our new buckling brings in a smoother more level topline and rump, more height to the udder and more capacity while bringing in the 6MG heavy milk lines. Also bringing in more breed character! Looking forward to seeing how these kids turn out!

TBD reserved 2020 buckling

F2 mini-Nubians – 66.14/33.86%

Cleo was held back until the fall as she wasn’t mature enough until early 2020 and we want to keep kidding time to Feb/Mar. She comes from some wonderful genetics on her sire side that go back to Paradise goats. Beautiful confirmation and udders in those lines as well as production. On her dam’s side, she comes from Moon-Bar-Ranch and has a lot of Simple Truth and Remuda lineage. Cleo will be bred to our new buckling that we’ll be getting in spring 2020 from Green Gables Mini-Nubians. We hope our newest buck will bring some great milk production to her line and beautiful udders. He will be bringing lots of 6MG goodness to the mini line, his grandam peaked at almost 2 gallons as a mini-Nubian!
